The Project

Support was provided through the kind help of the Mazzoni Center, Philadelphia’s LGBT Health Center, the University of Pennsylvania Department of Fine Arts’ darkroom facilities, and partial funding was provided by the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). The project has been conducted as part of Arthur Robinson Williams' master in bioethics thesis at Penn's Center for Bioethics. Partial funding to help develop the Reources section of the website has been provided by the Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation.

My Right Self has been underwritten by a generous grant from the Open Society Institute Documentary Photography Project.

My Right Self is designed to travel as a 25-piece large format color photography exhibit (for galleries or conferences) and to function online as an informative website for the broader public and house resources for transfolks, family and healthcare providers. Additionally, the photographer is available for slideshow powerpoint lectures. Contact Arthur Robinson Williams at ARWilliams@gmail.com to arrange exhibits or presentations.

Participants were found through word-of-mouth, LGBT listserves, and the Mazzoni Center's Trans-Health Conference Committee.

New participants may be sought in the future to add to the diversity and scope of the project. Interested transfolks and families should visit the page on getting involved.

Comments and feedback on the project and website are useful and welcome; please email ARWilliams@gmail.com
